Hello and welcome
My name is Lisa. I am a teacher of English as a foreign language. Originally from London, I now live in the beautiful English county of Gloucestershire. I have a degree in English and trained as a teacher of English as a foreign language. I did my teacher training in London over twenty years ago. Welcome to my blog for learners of English.
After my training, I moved to Germany, I lived there for some years teaching English grammar, conversation and English for business. I worked with students from many different countries with different language needs. Teaching English as a foreign language is my dream job because it gives me the chance to meet so many interesting people. I have taught students from different countries and from different continents. I enjoy learning about different cultures and the differences and similarities between languages.
I hope that this blog will help you learn English. I want to write about English grammar, idioms, phrasal verbs as well as about British life. My plan is also to write about famous British people. My idea is to help learners understand a little more about the culture and learn vocabulary at the same time. I also hope to write about functional English such as asking for information, saying sorry, offering advice and much, much more.
The internet is a fantastic way to learn a language. There is so much information available to students. There are thousands of opportunities to read English, listen to English, watch English and even speak English. I hope my blog will help you to improve your language skills. My advice: read as much as you can, listen as much as you can and speak as much as you can. My own motto for learning a language is ‘little and often’. Practise everyday, even if only for a few minutes. You will see the results. Good luck!
